The Basics Still Work

The Basics Still Work

Do you feel like you’re ready to start reclaiming your health and fitness in Midlife but you don’t know WHERE to start because there is so much noise out there?

Social Media has become a hotbed for all the latest ways to lose weight, become more fit and improve our health in Midlife.

On any given day I see all of these topics in my feed:

Keto, Intermittent Fasting, Carb Cutting, GLP-1’s…

HRT or no HRT

Supplements…what do we take, is creatine something we should consider and if so, how much?

HIIT workouts for Midlife Women…good or bad?

Pilates and Zone 2 Cardio…and Jumping for bone health

Biohacking…the list is long on this one!

And, let’s not forget our Weighted Vests!

Don’t get me wrong…I LOVE that there’s so much interest around us getting healthy and fit in Midlife.  But, sometimes, it feels downright confusing, doesn’t it?!

Here’s what I want to share with you and I hope this gives you some comfort:

The old ways still work.

We need to be in a CALORIC DEFICIT in order to lose weight

And, we need to LIFT WEIGHTS to build muscle

Lastly, EATING PROTEIN helps us support muscle growth

If you just focus on these things and do them over a consistent period of time (months) and then continue it for even longer (a year) you will reach your goals and then some!

The truth is that it’s the unsexy, time tested ways that are a guarantee. And, consistency drives the results.

Is there anything wrong with the other things I mention above? Not at all. And, if those things are for you, that’s wonderful.  We all have unique preferences and we need to choose the path that is right for us.

But, if you’re feeling paralyzed by the noise and it’s causing you to be stuck…let this be your reminder that nothing has changed.

The basics still work.

Always have, always will.

Mastery of the fundamentals will always lead to long term success. And, we’re in this for life!

In your corner!

Denise
